How to find your best buyers on Whatnot
The room is not the customer list
How to find your best buyers on Whatnot is a sorting problem, not a follower problem. A show can have 200 people in it and 8 of them did the spending. Those 8 are the business. The rest are the room.
Whatnot will show you orders and, on some shows, who is watching. It will not tap you when the person who spent $600 last Thursday is winning again. If you are reading chat, you are late.
Build the list from orders, not from memory
Export a month of orders and group by buyer. Rank by dollars, then by how many different shows they bought in. One huge night can be a gift. Three shows in a month is a customer.
Write down the username exactly as it appears on the order. Nicknames you use in chat will not match later. Note what they buy. A buyer who only wants one brand should not get your whole show aimed at them, but they should get a real look when that brand is up.
Do this once a month. The list changes. Someone goes quiet. Someone new clears five auctions and becomes the night.
What to do when they are in the room
You do not need a discount code and a speech. You need to know they are there before the item you bought for them closes at a loss to someone else. Say their name when it is natural. Put the lots they actually buy earlier, while they are still watching. Do not rebuild the show around one person if the rest of the list is sitting there too.
After the show, check whether your top buyers spent or only lurked. A whale who watches and does not bid is a message about the product, not about the hour.
The text is the part you cannot do from a sheet
A spreadsheet can rank last month. It cannot reach you while you are holding a shoe and the auction is at twelve seconds. That is the gap. If the buyer who carries your Thursdays is winning, you want that in your pocket, not in Monday's file.
NxtSale keeps that list from your sales and can text you when one of them is winning. The work you can do tonight, with no tool, is the ranking: who spent, how often, and on what. Start there. The shows get easier once those names are not a blur in chat.
Questions sellers ask
What counts as a whale on Whatnot?
A buyer who shows up more than once and spends enough to move the show. A one-time big bid is a good order. A repeat buyer is the list.
Should I give my best buyers a discount?
Usually no. Know when they are in the room and show them the lots they buy. A blanket discount taxes every other sale.
Where do I see past buyers?
Order history and the weekly orders report. Group by username and sort by spend. Whatnot analytics will not hand you this as a ranked list you can act on mid-show.
How often should I update the list?
Once a month, or after any show that felt different. Buyers go quiet and new ones show up faster than a yearly list can track.
